NBA-SBL at THE 2025 British Nigerian Law Forum Summit in Lagos
THE NBA-SBL CHAIRMAN, OZOFU ‘LATUNDE OGIEMUDIA, AT THE SUMMIT TO REITERATE OUR SUPPORT FOR LAWYERS ACROSS BORDERS
The vibrant city of Lagos recently hosted the 2025 British Nigerian Law Forum (BNLF) Summit, a landmark gathering of legal minds from the United Kingdom and Nigeria. Held on June 26 and 27, 2025, this highly anticipated event brought together thought leaders, innovators and commercial stakeholders under the theme: “Strengthening Legal and Business Ties Between the UK and Nigeria: Navigating Opportunities and Challenges.”
At the heart of the summit’s success was the presence and participation of the Chairman of the NBA Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL), Mrs. Ozofu ’Latunde Ogiemudia, across key segments of the programme.
The Power of Legal Networks: A Fireside to Remember
On the main conference day, Mrs. Ogiemudia featured in a Fireside Chat session titled “The Power of Legal Networks: A Dialogue Between BNLF and NBA.” In an atmosphere that fostered openness and cross-continental reflection, she spoke compellingly on collaboration, mutual growth, and the evolving legal ecosystems of both nations.
This intimate and impactful dialogue was brilliantly moderated by none other than Mr. George Etomi, the Founding Chair of the NBA-SBL, whose questions drew out insights that captivated the audience and spotlighted the strength of the NBA-SBL’s global partnerships.
Setting the Tone: Opening Cocktail Remarks
The evening prior, on Wednesday, June 26, the SBL Chair, Mrs. Ogiemudia, delivered stirring goodwill remarks at the exclusive Welcome Cocktail Reception hosted at the residence of the Deputy British High Commissioner in Lagos. In her address, she reinforced the value of enduring legal partnerships and commended the BNLF for its unwavering dedication to bridging both jurisdictions for mutual prosperity.
Her remarks, delivered to a selected audience of senior legal, diplomatic and business leaders from both countries, were lauded as warm, visionary and affirming of the NBA-SBL’s global footprint.
NBA-SBL Members Shine on International Stage
The NBA-SBL’s influence didn’t end there. In a dynamic session titled “Accessing International Markets and Building Your Legal Brand,” Mrs. Perenami Momodu, an Executive Committee Member of the NBA-SBL, captivated the audience with her global perspectives and strategic depth. Her session was expertly moderated by Mrs. Uche Ogunedo Akingbade and featured Mr. Oladele Oladunjoye, Vice Chair of the NBA-SBL Capital Market Committee, whose contributions brought a practical, market-facing dimension to the discussion.
This powerful representation was bolstered by the strong presence of many NBA-SBL members, whose attendance not only demonstrated support but further elevated the summit’s stature.
The event was also enriched by the enthusiastic participation of our friends from The Law Society of England and Wales, whose delegation underscored the strength of transnational legal alliances.
A Resounding Success
We congratulate the BNLF led by Mr Kash Balogun for the resounding success of the first BNLF Summit in Nigeria and we are honoured to have participated and supported the Summit.
